Rossi Engineering has prepared a preliminary design to meet the International 5.5 Metre Rating Rule. A hard chine hull shape has been drafted to fit within the rule allowances and permit transport without restrictions on all (US and European) roadways. To provide owners with some design options different keel configurations and rudder variations will be available. Additionally, the cockpit layout can be tailored to improve crew efficiency. Initial construction specifications for the hull and deck panels are composite foam and glass or plywood for a lower cost construction alternative. To provide optimum performance the spars are planned to be made from carbon. Final construction details and rigging specifications are pending.

Smith Island Racing Crab Skiff
Rossi Engineering designed and participated in the build of an 18 foot Smith Island Racing Crab Skiff. The boat was built using carbon fiber and epoxy over a foam core. A female mold was prepared and vacuum bag techniques were used during construction. Additional builds are planned in the near term.
